Today I'd like to talk about Reiki Detox, aka the 21 Day Cleanse as there seems to be a bit of confusion as to what it is... and what it isn't.
What exactly is Reiki Detox?
After receiving a Reiki attunement many people have reported a period of "strangeness" which generally does not last for more than 21 days... this is REiki detox. Energetics enthusiasts have attributed this to the Reiki energies pulsing through the 7 Chakras until they are completely assimilated... which can take from one to three passes through the system. During this time many experiences have been reported, from mild sensations (skin rashes) to acute and often problematic occurrences (prolonged diarrhea)... no doubt depending on how clogged up <technical term> the energy system was. This cleansing cycle is then repeated for each attunement (and presents a good case for spreading them out as much as possible).
What to do during Reiki Detox
The symptoms experienced during a Reiki cleansing cycle almost unanimously vary from person to person, so there is nothing set in stone as to how to proceed. Generally its a good idea to stay in touch with your Reiki teacher during this time and report anything out of the ordinary... continued Reiki treatments from your teacher or other practitioners often alleviate any negative effects. I happen to feel that this is a great time for a total body cleanse and recommend a change in diet (a green tea diet being my favorite at the moment), perhaps even a fast (doctor approval necessary) as well as an increased dedication to meditational practice. Other than that not much really needs to be changed, other than drink an excess of water and don't stray too far from the toilet. 😈
What to do after Reiki Detox
The good news is that there are generally no noticeable lingering effects following a Reiki cleanse... the bad news is that you are now stuck with the Reiki energies forever. 😆 Following the detox period I encourage my students to spend some time trying to notice any mental, emotional, physical or spiritual changes that may have occurred during the Reiki Detox. The Japanese practice of Hatsurei-Ho (I'll get around to discussing it in detail one of these days) is a wonderful exercise to this end and is highly recommended. Other than that just keep practicing Reiki on yourself, your surrogates and anyone else who might be persuaded... and you're good to go! 😎
